Giinagay-Welcome to St Mary's Primary School

St Mary’s Primary School,  Bowraville, is a caring and vibrant Catholic community where every student and family is valued, included and respected. We currently educate 58 children K-6 from across the Nambucca Valley.

For over a hundred years, our school has provided a wonderful learning environment where students feel safe, secure and cared for. The school works closely with our local Gumbaynggiirr community, creating connections with language, country and culture for our students.

Through our school Motto ‘Let Your Light Shine,' we seek to inspire our students with a passion for learning, life and service to others. As a Catholic School Community, we aim to accompany families so that our students can recognise the gifts they each have and share these gifts with others so they can each live their unique life with joy.

'I am deeply grateful for all of the wonderful staff at St Mary’s Primary School Bowraville. They are not just a school but a little family as well, and what a wonderful family to be a part of. My children’s individual educational needs are catered to. They receive the most current and up-to-date learning experiences in and outside of the classroom. My children partake in cultural activities regularly and participate in community events often, and I feel this is invaluable learning at this stage of their development. My family continue to feel very supported in all aspects. The wonderful staff go above and beyond for my children always.!!! I have never looked back since starting our journey here. We love St Mary’s Primary School!' - Shakiah, parent of an Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students.

'St Mary's Primary School has been a wonderful experience for our family. Their small school community is like a family and allows your child to get a truly holistic school experience meeting all their needs equally. My children are supported academically, spiritually, emotionally and culturally. They are given opportunities in community engagement and sport that they wouldn't be able to take part in at any other school.' - Casey, parent of an Early stage 1, Stage 1 and Stage 3 students.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge that our school resides on the Lands of the Gumbaynggirr Nation.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians who have walked and cared for this land for thousands of years and their descendants who maintain these spiritual connections and traditions.

We pay our respect to Elders past, present and future leaders.

We reflect on the millions of footprints that travelled the Dreaming pathways and continue to walk this land today. The Land we are on now, the land we live, work, breathe, eat and sleep: always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.

We walk alongside the custodians of this beautiful country, Australia, as we seek Voice, Treaty and Truth.
