    Principal Message

    easter.jpg
    Dear Families and friends,
It is hard to believe we are at the end of Term 1 and in the Easter season of Lent. This term has been a very busy one, and I am so proud of all our amazing learners and the growth they have shown in learning.
    School Review
During May, we will have our next  school review. This shapes our 4 year plan and direction. The review is conducted by external assessors and another Primary school Principal. Our last review was in 2022 and I am very proud of how far our school community has grown and improved since then.  A huge part of our growth is the amazing team of Educators that we have at St Mary’s. The commitment and dedication all of our staff show each and every day, is why we are where we are today.
    School bus reminders
As we head into winter sport season, a reminder to families that we will not be able to drop our students at sporting practices, etc. Our drop off points are your places of residence and we have a duty of care to our students until they are in the care of you or another trusted adult. Can I also please ask that families to inform the school of any afternoon changes before 2.30pm each day. We have had some really confusing afternoons where students and teachers are unsure of where children are going as well as mixed messages. Thank you for your support with this matter.
    Easter egg donation
Families, we really need your help! Our Easter egg donations are really low this year. Could you please contribute in any way shape or form (no matter how small) with a donation of Easter eggs. Thank you to those families who have already donated, we are very grateful!
I look forward to seeing our families in Week 10 at our Community breakfast. All friends and family are welcome.
    Nadine

Kinder are reading a book called Farmer John's Tractor. From this book students have been learning how to talk in a full sentence, clap syllables and use rhyming words.

Students also selected a part from the story and created an artwork about it with a sentence to accompany their artwork about the book.

On Tuesday 1st April students visited the McKay's dairy farm at Blackberry Lane, Bowraville. The Mckay's entertained students showing them all aspects of the dairy farm. Students were able to see how big a tractor actually is. Here they are photographed next to the wheel of the tractor. They are huge!

    Miss Mel

Next Tuesday will be Miss Mel's last day with St Mary's. Miss Mel has been a big part of our St Mary's family over the last 5 years.

Mel has worked incredibly hard in her time at St Mary's to create trusting, caring relationships with all of our students, staff and community. Mel will be commencing a new job in Coffs Harbour.

Thank you Miss Mel for bringing your shining light to our school, and know when you leave our lights will shine brighter because of you and your dedication and love shown to all of us.

    Easter Celebrations

    easter_header.PNG

This year St Mary's will be holding our Easter Hat parade at school on the 10th April the last day of school for students. Firstly we will be holding a community breakfast @8am and would like to invite all family, friends and community to come and share breakfast with us. The breakfast will be followed by the easter hat parade and easter raffle.

We encourage students to make their hats at home, however if this can't be done they can make a hat at school.

Raffle tickets are still for sale. If you need more books please contact the office.

WE ARE STILL SEEKING DONATIONS. IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE OR A BUSINESS THAT WOULD LIKE TO DONATE (NOT JUST EGGS, BUT OTHER ITEMS OR VOUCHERS) PLEASE ASK THEM TO GET IN TOUCH.

For families interested in joining in on the community easter hat parade through the Bowraville main street please see the flyer in the Community Notices section in this newsletter for details.
