Term 4 Week 6 2024
Dear Families and Friends of St Mary's,
Stage 3 Camp
I have had the privilege of just returning from our Stage 3 camp at Yarra Holiday Park. I have to say what an amazing group of children our Stage 3's are. They are kind, independent, solution focused and helpful. I feel very proud of these students, especially our Year 6 cohort, as flourishing examples of our St Mary's values in action.
Enrolment for 2025
Just a reminder for any family or friends that you know are considering enrolling in St Mary's for 2025 to please let us know as soon as possible. We are working on our class structure for 2025, so our numbers are really important.
Gate Access to St Mary's
We now have a FOB system to gain access in to and out of St Mary's. Students will need to come through the Front gate of the school in the mornings at drop off. If you require access to the school for a meeting or to collect your children, please ring the bell at the car park access gate. The front gate will be locked 8.55-2.45pm daily.
Crocs!
I love my Crocs and if I had my way I would wear them everyday! Unfortunately, they are not suitable footwear for school. Could you please make sure your child and children have the correct footwear for school (white or black joggers or school shoes please)
We have many events coming up to the end of the year and I look forward to seeing and welcoming our families and community to St Mary's during this time.
Nadine

Our school has been participating in Swimming Lessons held at Macksville Aquatic Centre.
Our K/1 students have been learning to swim in the big pool and have been learning swimming skills such as kicking, floating, and arm strokes.
In maths 2/3 have been learning how to make representations of two-dimensional shapes and combinations of shapes in different orientations. The class can Identify full, half and quarter turns of a single shape. Students have been learning to Identify and describe directions of turns as ‘left turn’, ‘right turn’, ‘clockwise’ or ‘anti-clockwise. They have also been looking at tessellations.
In year 4 a superstar is chosen every day and that student helps get all of the class jobs done. Students are working really hard to do jobs to contribute to the class and to our school which helps earn the class a fun class reward if students keep at it.
Tayven was the lucky superstar on his birthday and he was really excited.
In the outdoor learning classroom Year 4 have been taking their regular class work outside. They are completing their work in nature to help focus and enjoy the beautiful weather.
On Friday the 8th of November we invited some amazing people into our school for our chess tournament.
We were honoured to have the Australian Chess Grandmaster Zhao Zong-Yuan attend and play chess with our students. Along with Yuan came a film crew and a Chess documentary organiser Anne Powers. Some of our students were interviewed for the documentary. Further details about the release of the documentary are yet to come, but we will share the details with our families once we have further information.
Students were also excited to meet footy stars Jamie Chapman and Brad Fitler. Jamie travelled down for the Gold Coast and Brad from Sydney to attend this day with our students.
Our local Police and Fire & Rescue staff also attended and were challanged by our students in Chess.
All of our visitors were welcomed by a smoking ceremony and welcome to country in our yarning circle with some of our elders present.
A big thank you to Miss Mel for organising this fun day for our school.
